PARSIPPANY, N.J., July 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avis Budget Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:CAR) today announced that since the Company became a stand-alone vehicle rental company in 2006, the Avis Budget Charitable Foundation has issued more than 250 grants to organizations and causes that serve the communities in which the Company operates.

The Foundation supports a wide range of organizations, including healthcare research, veterans' advocacy groups, children's welfare and the creative and performing arts. In 2012, organizations receiving support from the Avis Budget Charitable Foundation included the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes and the American Heart Association; Covenant House, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Preschool Advantage, Inc.; Back On My Feet, New Jersey Heroes and the Wounded Warrior Project; the Community Food Bank of East Oklahoma, the Morristown, N.J. Community Soup Kitchen & Outreach Center and the Harlem YMCA; and the Metropolitan Opera Association, New York Botanical Garden, the Mayo Performing Arts Center and the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation.

The Avis Budget Charitable Foundation is a private foundation which does not currently solicit contributions. Applications for grants must include documentation of IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, a description of the work performed by the organization, and details of how the Foundation's grant will be recognized. Grant applications may be submitted by mail to Avis Budget Charitable Foundation, 6 Sylvan Way, Parsippany, N.J., 07054. Due to the volume of applications received, the Foundation is unable to acknowledge receipt or respond to all grant applicants.
